We had so many apples in the fall that I tried about 15 different apple recipes. This was a delicious option among the many.
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
8 tbsp butter
0.5 cup sugar
0.5 cup yogurt
120g flour (about a cup)
0.5 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
0.25 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp water
Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 9-inch square pan.
Peel and core the apples. Slice thinly. Toss with cinnamon and lemon juice. Press into greased pan in an even layer.
Beat the butter with 0.25 cup sugar, add the yogurt, flour, salt, vanilla, leavening agents, and beat again.
Spread the batter on top of the apples. Sprinkle with the other 0.25 cup sugar and drizzle with water.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until top is goldenbrown.
